It was a spectacular day and a total rejection of the end of daylight savings. There's still plenty of summer left in Wellington - I suppose that's partly due to our failure to have one back in January...
Anyway, while I was looping around the coast I started reflecting on the lure of Italy - and other destinations - and wondering why. Why Cinque Terre when we have Whitireia, Titahi Bay, Mana Island, etcetera? Is it just because it's there? Is it another item to knock of the list? Certainly in my case it's nothing very deep. Common or garden curiosity probably sums it up. Put another way: C21 angst and FOMO.
I'm not deeply troubled by this question, but am pondering it nonetheless. We all know people whose world view seems narrow (or wide) irrespective of how much travelling they do. Plus there's the footprint: biking today, jetting tomorrow, tut tut.
It's another gorgeous day in Porirua today - bit more wind - which is reassuring. Time to ease up on the reflection and hang out the washing.
