in a moment or two we will launch into some roman treats - a small post-lunch snack to make sure we last til dinner.
This is a bad idea, not least because i've just bought my roman momento - a trast t-shirt - which i still hope to fit when i get home. Check out their website: http://www.trastclothingstores.com/
we just had our sunday lunch on one of the larger piazza in Trastevere. We are so happy that we landed here - all the great places to eat and drink are literally next door - and everything else we want to see and do is walking distance.
Do not be concerned at Geoff's frown - we had a lovely time - he was thinking about what delicious food option to choose - NB the double bass and xylophone players in the background - good lunch music, as it turns out.
when we got back from lunch we found a couple of tourists taking a picture of our place - it was kind of fun to be opening the door and disappearing inside while they checked out the local buildings - our building. Well, you know, it's fun to pretend.
the lunch waiter was haughty and charged us for bread (that we did not receive) - no tip for him. Apart from a few tables of travellers like us, there were heaps of italians also lunching. we got to watch a whole fish being boned beside the table before being served. Geoff noted that the best bits (cheeks) were kept back, but it did seem nice that they didn't have to pick through most of the bones as they ate.
Not far away a busker was busy impersonating a tree (sorry, no pic) and was attracted kids like nobody's business - all of whom were keen to engage with him, but none of whom seemed to have any money. A very cool one we have seen is apparently levitating yogi (i have a pick of that, i think). They were at the pantheon and also the colosseum and, I can only imagine, other tourist meccas. Geoff has announced he is keen to make a set up when we get home. I can hardly wait.
Anyhoo, coffee is brewed and sweet treats will not wait for ever (the pistachio one is like nougat - maybe it is nougat?)... plus, my book will not read itself...

Very cool Tshirts - roman holiday maybe??
ReplyDeleteThe levitating yogi is an added bonus!
Have you been to Santa Maria Trastevere? Very cool...we have been trying to remember who was buried there - a Stuart pretender H thinks...
Nice restaurant in the piazza and good gelato up the street.
What about theworld's largest mortadella somewhere near the campo di fiore? A high point of our trip if I recall...
