1. Vapporetto - all day ticket
2. Tonolo - beautiful pastries - breakfast - yum
3. Museum foot - even without any museums
4. Along the grand canal - Byron lived here
5. San Giorgio Maggiore
6. A bell tower with a view (San Giorgio recently lost an arm and became dangerously unbalanced so they are fixing him). Incidentally, this church was the first to have an actual person (statue) on top. It started quite a trend.
7. great photo bombing by local birds
8. The Doge's Palace
9. Bridge of Sighs
10. Most amazing skies

Hurricanes vs Highlanders in an hour...
Mark Hammett definitely going to Wales. Not sure it's public but his Yr 12 daughter had a big cry about it on Wednesday outside my office.

Yep good list but too much old stuff thats why Peggy Guggenheim is so great. Venice will likely only survive by being relevant, not by being a museum, so I reckon you need some new stuff
ReplyDeletePonte della Constituzione
Statzione Venezia St Lucia (Mussolini may have had a problem or two but this wasn't one of them)
Carlo Scarpas fabulous entry to the Tolentini Monastry now Institute of Architecture
